Sally commenced her career with Air UK 1997 which became KLM UK soon after. In 2000 KLM launched a British low-cost airline as a subsidiary, called buzz. Sally was involved in the launch and worked on the ground in load control, flight planning and operations.
In 2003 she joined Astraeus Airlines, another British based start up, providing charter services to European and African destinations.
In 2006, she relocated to Dubai with her family, where she worked for The Emirates Group as a Senior Lecturer and Programme Manager at Emirates Aviation University. Also working as part of the wider academic team and managing the Foundation programme for Emirates in collaboration with Coventry University, UK.
Key responsibilities were lecturing for the Business School and School of Engineering on Aviation management, Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management and Airline Commercial Operations.
Sally has a Master’s degree from the University of Liverpool where she studied Organisations in Strategic Context, Finance and Accounting, Advanced E-Commerce, Strategic Human Resources Management, Marketing and Innovation and Change. Sally has delivered these topics in an aviation context during the course of her work at Emirates Aviation University. In an academic context, she keeps up to date with current practice and remains connected to research in this sector.
Sally also holds a CELTA from Cambridge which was pivotal in her work at EAU when aviation language proficiency testing was introduced in 2008. She worked across the globe with pilots, air traffic controllers and aeronautical station operators involved in international operations, to set up processes and training to ensure aviation operators meet the required ICAO language proficiency level.
With over 27 years experience above and below the wing based in Europe and the Middle East, Sally is a passionate advocate for change in Australian aviation. She moved to Victoria with her family in 2019 from Dubai.
